The Northeast Region of the American Chemical Society is now accepting nominations for the 2012 "Northeast Region , ACS Award for Achievements in the Chemical Sciences".

About this award

The Northeast Region, ACS established this award in 2008 to recognize notably outstanding achievements by a chemist in the Northeast Region. The award is conferred annually on a scientist who has made meritorious research contributions leading to the advancement of pure or applied chemistry. The work on which the nomination is based must have been carried out during a period of residence in the area encompassing the Local Sections that comprise the Northeast Region. A nominee must also be a member of the ACS and currently reside in the Region.

The Nominating package

The nomination package should include a nominating letter from the primary nominator highlighting the significant contributions of the candidate and include:

  • The completed nomination form
  • A documented synopsis of the accomplishments of the nominee
  • An all-inclusive curriculum vitae, patent summary and/or publication list
  • A brief personal biography
  • Two additional supporting letters containing information about the candidate not provided in the nominating document

Award presentation

This award will be presented at the 2012 Northeast Regional Meeting (NERM), Rochester, NY, September 30th – October 3rd, 2012. All expenses associated with attending the Northeast Regional Meeting will be covered. The award winner is expected to give an award address at this meeting and attend the awards banquet.

The package of materials must be received on or before June 1, 2012. Nomination packages will be kept active for a maximum of two years, but will require an annual update.

IMPORTANT: There is a requirement that we receive at least two (2) nominations in order for the award to be judged and presented.
