The advanced tutorial is designed for someone who has already completed the basic tutorial, and set up an account, etc. If you are starting with the advanced tutorial, please work through the following:

  1. Set up an account. If you need a step-by-step guide, see Help:Creating an account. You may need to authenticate the process by responding to a personal email.
  2. Log in to that account.
  3. Create a user page with a link to your faculty or other professional web page, then add some information about yourself.
  4. Add a category to your user page, such as Category:Users in the US, Category:American users, Category:Canadian users.
  5. Open up a new browser tab or window and open up your user page in that tab/window.
  6. Create a sandbox page called Username/sandbox. From now on we will refer to this as your "sandbox window".
  7. Review common protocols by reading Tutorial:TutorialPage1p and Tutorial:TutorialPage1q.

Then you're ready to go back to the tutorial page and start the advanced tutorial. You should read the tutorial in one window or tab, and use the other as your "sandbox window" for trying things out.
