OK - now you're ready to get your user page set up. Go to the other window, and click on your name in the top right (next to the little person icon). When a blank window comes up, type in a description of yourself. Save it as before, with a description in the edit box like "Create profile."

Then we want to add you into a "category" so we can find you - we usually classify users by location and nationality. Click the edit tab on your user page. Again you use the double square brackets, but with Category: in front of the name. Unlike most page titles, categories usually have plural forms. Some likely choices:

  • [[Category:Users in the US]]
  • [[Category:American users]]
  • [[Category:Canadian users]]

You can invent your own, but please follow the general style used above, and note that it will come out in red.

Save again, perhaps with an edit box description like "Add cat." Once you have saved this page, click on the *[[Category:Users in the US]] link. Now you can see all of the other users in the US! If you take a look five minutes later, you may see some more names appearing there, as people in this session add their names to the category.
