Me:
My name is Dirk Beetstra, I was born in Waskemeer, The Netherlands in 1971. Lived there until 1994, have lived in Belgium (Leuven) for one year, and moved to Groningen (Netherlands), where I lived until 2005. From 2005 until 2009 I have lived in Cardiff, Wales, UK, and now I have moved back to the Netherlands, living in Eindhoven.
General Interests:
My general interests are Chemistry (also my current workfield) and I like to walk/bike around in nature.
Work:
I am specialised in organic, organometallic and coordination chemistry. I studied chemistry at the Hanzehogeschool Groningen and University of Groningen (organic chemistry). After finishing my study I did a PhD in organometallic chemistry under guidance of Bart Hessen and Jan Teuben. From 2005-2008 I have been working as a postdoc in Cardiff, Wales at Cardiff University (working on the synthesis of new carbene ligands) under guidance of Kingsley Cavell, Nancy Dervisi and Ian Fallis and later under guidance of Mike Coogan, working on transfer hydrogenation.
