Berkelium(III) fluoride, BkF3, is the lower fluoride of berkelium. It is prepared by the reaction of hydrofluoric acid with BkO2 or Bk2O3.[2] It is the first actinoid trifluoride that exhibits the YF3-type orthorhombic structure as the room-temperature α-phase and the LaF3-type trigonal structure as the high-temperature β-phase.[1][3]
