Open Source

One Way to Achieve Financial Freedom

Wiki Rules!

When we hear the words, "open source" we tend to think of applications that may or may not work properly. Interestingly enough, how is this different from commercially produced applications. Take the example of Microsoft. They do put out some applications that are not 100% solid, yet we buy them any way. This is not an attempt to slam Microsoft.

To credit Microsoft, they test their products up to a point. They can only find a certain number of problems and cannot assume every possible senario. Therefore, if they took that much more time to resolve every possible problem the software has, it [the software] would never see the light of day.

But think about how much money you as a customer spend on the software. Now how about looking at an alternative solution?

Let's look at Open Office. This suite can handle everything Microsoft's Office (MS) Suite can - and thensome.

The Open Office (OO) Suite consists of the following applications:

  • OO Write = MS Word
  • OO Calc = MS Excel
  • OO Impress = MS PowerPoint
  • OO Base = MS Access
  • OO Math - Allows you to use mathematical formulas.
  • OO Draw - Allows you to create diagrams. Similar to MS Visio.
