The final discussion will be used to try and bring a conclusion to the whole course. The topic will be derived from a slide in Unit 14:
- Society will still need goods to be manufactured.
- Is sustainable manufacturing feasible?
- Full cost accounting – will it become the norm?
- Life Cycle Analysis and ISO 14000: Window dressing or a sea change?
- Remanufacturing, green chemistry – are these realistic & viable, or just environmental dreaming?
The discussion: You are Minister for Industry for the new US Aaministration elected in 2008. Pick one specific environmental initiative that you think have the most useful impact. Make the case for that particular initiative, and explain how it could be paid for.
