The Adirondacks are a mountain range in Northern New York State in North America. They are very old, and they are popular for geologists to go to. Tourists like to go there as well, and about 100 years ago they made it into a National Park. Track was laid from New York City to bring the rich and famous in summer months. Major towns in the Adirondack region include Lake Placid (site of the 1932 and 1984 Winter Olympics), Saranac Lake, Tupper Lake, Old Forge, and Lake George.
Acid rain has constributed to the death of a number of lakes in the area.
