Samarium(III) bromide, SmBr3, is the main bromide of samarium. The hydrate is prepared by dissolving neodymium(III) oxide or neodymium carbonate in hydrobromic acid, but cannot be dehydrated without partial hydrolysis.[1] The anhydrous salt is prepared by reaction of the elements.[1]
