  • Now we want to make it pretty with a picture. Find a suitable picture to include by going to the Wikimedia Commons. Often searches fail, but if needed browse the categories. All pictures on this site are free for you to use, though many require attribution of the author and inclusion of the copyright (usually GFDL or CC). If you click on the picture, you get the full size; if you don't it will be smaller (usually OK for what we need here). When you find a good picture, save it to the desktop, then click on "Upload file" in the "toolbox" on the left of the screen"
  • Once you have brought up the upload box, you will need to browse to find the source filename. The uploaded name will be the same by default. Copy the text from the image file on Commons - especially the author - and state "File from Wikimedia Commons."
  • Add a category such as Category:Photographs of places or Category:Misc photographs.
  • Then insert the picture into your page using the method we just learned, with something like
    Ducks in the Adirondacks
    .
