Chem 395:Week of January 21, 2007

Monday, January 21st Welcome to SUNY Potsdam, and Chemistry 395, an online course on sustainable manufacturing. This page gives some suggestions for what you should be working on today.

  • Take a look at the main course page (particularly the announcements)
  • Also read the welcome page, the syllabus and the schedule.
  • Also familiarize yourself with the site by clicking around a bit. Content for later in the semester may be incomplete, but the basic infrastructure of the site should all be there to look at.
  • Order a copy of the textbook, if you haven't done so already. It is "Technology, Humans and Society: Towards a Sustainable World" by Richard C. Dorf, Academic Press, 2001. You can order it from the SUNY Potsdam bookstore, or from Amazon or Barnes and Noble.
  • Start learning how to use the wiki. The welcome page pretty much tells you what you need to do on that.
  • Let me know what times are best for you to be online. That way we can arrange a suitable time for discussions, and (this week) for you to run through a tutorial.
  • That's probably enough for the first day, though you may want to take a peek at the first unit.
