Potassium hypomanganate, K3MnO4, is a bright blue salt and a rare example of a manganese(V) compound. It is formed:

MnO4 + SO2−3 + H2O → MnO3−4 + SO2−4 + 2 H+
2 MnO2 → MnO3−4 + Mn3+
