Pechiney-Ugine-Kuhlmann (PUK) was a French company specializing in the production of speciality steels, aluminium and bulk chemicals. It was formed in 1971 by the merger of Pechiney and Ugine Kuhlmann, creating France's largest private company at the time with a global workforce of 104,000 and slaes of US$4.7 billion (1974).[1]

The companies steel-making activities were sold (as Ugine Aciers, now Ugine S.A.) to Sacilor (now Usinor-Sacilor) in 1981, and the rest of Pechiney-Ugine-Kuhlmann was nationalized in 1982.[2] The chemicals division, Produits Chimiques Udine Kuhlmann (PCUK), was sold off in 1983, mostly to form Atochem (now Arkema),[3] and the PUK name was changed back to Pechiney.
