The Nickel Directive was a European Union directive regulating the use of nickel in jewellery and other products that come into contact with the skin. It has since been subsumed in the REACH Regulation, specifically paragraph 27 of Annex&nbp;17 to that regulation.
Allergy to nickel is a common cause of contact dermatitis.[1]
