Osmosis
Osmosis is the tendency of a solvent to pass through a semi-permeable membrane from a region of low solute concentration to a region of high solute concentration. The presence of a membrane which allows the passage of solvent but which inhibits the passage of solute distinguishes osmosis from diffusion.
