Today's discussion will be 'on Etherpad so we can record your comments. The discussions will be moderated by Dr. Walker. You should aim to be politically realistic - for example, don't just say "Get people to consume less" - you must say HOW you would get people to consume less. The discussion topics will be as follows:

  • We cannot consume more than the resources available to us, yet we don't want to see a sudden drop in our standard of living. If you were the US president, what would you do to encourage people to reduce their resource use?
  • Are the current US environmental regulations, as outlined in Unit 6, adequate and appropriate for the 21st century? If you were the US president, what would you add, repeal or change in this area?

We will also briefly discuss the updates to the Acme scenario (the EPA inspection).
