This is the page for Unit 6, "Impacts of resource use." Please read through Hill chapter 5 carefully, as well as the Powerpoint presentation.

Impacts of resource use

Hill describes the linear throughput model, and considers various specific materials such as lead and copper. He considers the effects of waste on the ebvironment, and different ways to measure it. The Powerpoint presentation supplements this with some specific information about US government regulations on waste. They then go on to elaborate on carbon footprints.

Presentations

For this unit, the presentation begins as a supplement to the reading from Hill. It gives some details on US waste regulations that are not covered in the textbook. It then goes on to detail the effect of atmospheric carbon dioxide on climate change.
