For Canadians

Welcome Canadians! We hope that you will join us at NERM 2010!
Location in the St. Lawrence valley
Being near the US/Canada border, NERM 2010 is very convenient for many Canadian chemists. Potsdam is only around two hours drive from Ottawa, and 2.5 hours from Montreal, and 5 hours from Toronto. There are convenient crossing points at Prescott,ON/Ogdensburg,NY and at Cornwall,ON/Massena,NY - both bridges are close to Route 401 and about 45 minutes from Potsdam.
Canadians at NERM 2010
Canadian chemists are well represented at NERM 2010, with several symposium organizers coming from Ontario and Quebec. The symposium Synthetic organic chemistry: the next generation continues a NERM tradition of a Synthetic Organic Methods Across the Border (SOMAB) symposium.
CSC Toronto
Come straight from CSC2010 in Toronto, in around five hours! The CSC 2010 National Meeting ends on Wednesday June 2nd; NERM begins with a poster session on the evening of Wednesday, June 2nd, and oral presentations begin on the morning of Thursday, June 3rd.
We encourage you to attend CSC 2010, which features as plenary speakers Richard B. Silverman (Northwestern University) and John C. Polanyi (University of Toronto). Special symposia include "Synthesis and Applications of Boron Compounds", "Biodegradable/Green Polymers: Catalysis to Materials", "Teaching Green Chemistry in Lecture & Laboratory", and "Bioplasmonics".
Reminder: Abstract submission for CSC 2010 closes on February 15th.
Affordable
CSC members pay only the ACS member rate at all levels - see the registration page for more details. This means the full conference rate is only US$130 for CSC members, and undergraduate student members pay only US$25. With pleasant but affordable campus housing available, this is a conference where you can bring your whole research group!
Make it into a short vacation
For more details on area attractions, see Area attractions.
Potsdam is convenient for Lake Placid, Saranac Lakes and the Adirondacks. Bring your spouse, and after the conference, spend the weekend in the mountains south of the border! Take a trip on a lake, explore the creeks and ponds by kayak, or hike to the top of Whiteface.
