Potassium hypobromite, KBrO, is the potassium salt of hypobromous acid. It can be prepared by the reaction of bromine with aqueous potassium hydroxide solution at 0 °C or lower.[1][2] It has long been known as a strong oxidizing agent in solution,[3] but the solid trihydrate was not isolated until 1952.[2]
