Aria Reed Trio in Concert
At 8:00pm on Friday, June 4th, there will be a special performance by The Aria Reed Trio, in the Dunn Theatre, featuring Dr. Anna Hendrickson, oboe, Dr. Julianne Kirk, clarinet and Dr. Carol Lowe, bassoon.

Aria Reed Trio
Formed in 2006 by Crane School of Music faculty members (bassoonist Carol Lowe, oboist Anna Hendrickson, and clarinetist Julianne Kirk), the Aria Reed Trio brings warmth and vitality to the stage with every performance. Aria regularly performs throughout New York State, has been featured on Rochester’s WXXI Live from Hochstein radio broadcast, performed at the 2008 International Double Reed Conference and will perform at the 2010 International Double Reed Conference.
Anna Hendrickson is Assistant Professor of Oboe at the Crane School of Music SUNY Potsdam. Dr. Hendrickson performs with the National Arts Centre Orchestra in Ottawa, ON, Britt Festival Orchestra in Jacksonville, Oregon and serves as principal oboe with the Orchestra of Northern New York. Previous orchestral positions include the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra (Ontario) and the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. Dr. Hendrickson performed at the US Embassy in Paris, American Church in Paris, and Château de Champs while spending a year in France as a Fulbright scholar. As a faculty member of the Crane School of Music, Dr. Hendrickson performs regularly with the Aria Reed Trio and the Potsdam Woodwind Quintet. She holds the Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music from the Eastman School of Music where she studied with Richard Killmer, and the Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison as a student of Marc Fink. She held teaching positions at SUNY Geneseo, the Community Music School of the Eastman School of Music, and the Hochstein Music School.
Julianne Kirk serves as Assistant Professor of Clarinet at the Crane School of Music at the SUNY Potsdam. Dr. Kirk is Director of the Crane Youth Music Camp, Crane Clarinet Choir, and Crane Clarinet Ensembles. She has given master classes and clinics for the Southeast Asian Youth Orchestra and Wind Ensemble, Aria Summer Music Academy, and Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. Dr. Kirk has performed and presented at numerous conferences including the International Double Reed Society Conference, New York State School Music Association Conference, Oklahoma Clarinet Symposium, and the International Clarinet Association ClarinetFest. Dr. Kirk has performed with the Richmond Symphony Orchestra, the Amici Orchestra, the Orchestra of Northern New York, and the Northern Symphonic Winds. Dr. Kirk held teaching positions at Ball State University, University of Rochester, Eastman School of Music, Eastman Community Music School, Hochstein School of Music, Nazareth College and the University of Oklahoma. She holds the Doctorate of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees in Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music and a Bachelors of Music from the University of Oklahoma.
Carol Cope Lowe serves as Assistant Professor of Bassoon at the Crane School of Music, SUNY Potsdam. She has performed with orchestras across the United States, toured and recorded in London, Paris, and Munich, and has been a member of numerous chamber ensembles, including the Taft Quintet, first-prize winners at the 1989 Fischoff International Chamber Music Competition. Her degrees are from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (DMA), the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (MM), and the University of Wisconsin at Madison (BM). Her principal teachers include William Winstead, Otto Eifert, Richard Lottridge, and Michael Burns. Carol is currently interim principal bassoon for the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, substitutes with the Syracuse Symphony, serves as principal bassoon of the Orchestra of Northern New York, and is a member of the Potsdam Wind Quintet and the Aria Reed Trio.
